Despite a high level of security in the three northeastern states of Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland, large number of incidents of booth capturing, proxy voting and intimidation of voters were reported from different areas.
1x1 polls

Suspected NLFT militants kill-ed six of a polling party including five BSF personnel in J B Shantaram Para village under Jirania police station in West Tripura.
According to ruling CPM sources, the party would demand repoll in seven polling stations of Takarjala and in one at Mandai. CPM spokesman Gautam Das alleged that gun-toting NLFT militants terrorised voters in some rural constituencies to influence polling in favour of the INPT candidates.
While ruling Left Front alleged that Congressmen, with the help of militants, were terrorizing their supporters in the remote areas, the Congressmen complained of intimidation by ruling partners in the plains.
In Khayerpur constituency near Agartala, a voter complained that he was not allowed by the ruling CPM cadres to enter the booth. Several others made similar allegations.
In Nagaland, members of both the ruling and the opposition parties have been alleging use of militants in booth capturing. There were reports of killing of militants belonging to the NSCN (IM) as well as of security forces.
